Dragon Networks, Inc. PURCHASES CONNECTIVITY/CO-LOCATION PROVIDER

On December 28th, 2001 Dragon Networks, Inc. acquired Five Star Communications, a co-location and connectivity provider in Atlanta, GA. The purchase expands Dragon Networks' offerings to its customers, providing a wider range of connectivity and co-location options.

Dragon Networks, Inc. APPROVED FOR STATEWIDE ISP SERVICES

Aug, 29, 2001-ATLANTA, GA-The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) awarded Dragon Networks, Inc. as one of four preferred statewide dialup Internet Service Providers (ISP) vendors for all Georgia state entities, agencies, divisions or government employees.

The Internet is the most efficient and quickest way for the government to get regular updates to and from their offices, constituents or clients. Therefore, the need for ISP services in the government is growing in demand, so the GTA contracted four preferred vendors for agencies to notify of their needs. The vendors include Dragon Networks, Inc., AT&T, Bellsouth Business Systems, Inc and Intereach Internet Services, LLC.

The Georgia Technology Authority chose the preferred vendors due to pricing, coverage and whether the vendors could cater to the needs of the government agencies. Because of the number of locations for each agency or division, the agencies need a centralized billing system and a list of vendors that have been approved by the state.

"Dragon Networks, Inc. was chosen because we have more coverage of the state of Georgia than most national ISP vendors and certainly more than most of the local ISP vendors," said Charles Smith, CTO of Dragon Networks, Inc.. "Because of being headquartered in Georgia, we can provide quality service to the government agencies in the state."

The contract is a convenience contract, meaning that every state entity, agency, division or government employee has the option to choose one of the four preferred vendors.

"The agencies will set up the account directly with the vendor and be billed directly from the vendor to one location," said Chuck Nixon, contracting officer for GTA. "This way it doesn't cut you [the vendor] out, and it gives government entities the chance to look at different vendors without being overloaded with the amount that are out there."

The ISP contract is a bridge to the Converged Communications Outsourcing Project, which will give one vendor team the "leading vendor" status for all state entities.
